Abstract

Pernicious anemia appears to be autoimmune in origin. Autoantibodies such as
anti-parietal cell antibody and anti-intrinsic factor antibody are found in about 90% and
70% of patients, respectively. It is commonly associated with autoimmune disorders of
several organ systems, but rarely with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. When pernicious
anemia and autoimmune hemolytic anemia occurs simultaneously, some diagnostic and
therapeutic difficulties exist.
We experienced a case of pernicious anemia associated with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. The patient was recovered by replacement of vitamin Bl2 and steroid therapy.

Keywords Pemicious anemia, Autoimmune hemolytic anemia
