Abstract

Kasabach-Merritt syndrome(Giant hemangioma associated with thrombocytopenia) is a rare disease in infants and it's hemorrhagic manifestations in these patients are
frequently severe enough to threaten life.
We experienced a case of this syndrome in a 86 years old man who had a huge hemangioma in the liver, associated with an ecchymosis on the mid portion of the right lower leg. Extensive ecchymoses progressed rapidly developed on the right lower leg in spite of the management of the corticosteroid and platelet concentrates. He expired on
the 8th hospital day due to disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Keywords Kasabach-Merrit syndrome; Thrombocytopenia; Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation;
