Abstract

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is an acute rare, usually fatal disorder
characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, abnormalities in
central nervous system, fever and renal problems. TTP is seldomly associated with
pregnancy and there were few reports of familial occurrence of TTP.
Recent advance in therapy and insight into the pathogenesis have dramatically
changed its therapeutic outcome. Here, presented 2 cases of TTP in monozygotic twin
sisters during pregnancy, who treated successfully, is suggestive of genetic
predisposition in pathogenesis of TTP.
