Abstract

In acute promyelocytic leukemia(APL), 1(15;17)(q22;q21) is considered as playing an essential role in the pathogenesis of APL through the rearrangement of the retinoic acid
receptor alpha(RARα) gene with the fat gene. We reported two patients with APL, who showed 15q+ and i(17q-) in cytogenetic analysis of the bone marrow In one of two
showed mosaicism of typical t(15;17), 15q+, i(17q-), and +der(21)t(3;21), and in another patient showed 15q+ and i(17q-) as sole abnormality. They revealed PML/RARα
rearrangement by reverse transcription PCR and hematological, cytogenetical, and molecular remission were accomplished by all-trans-retinoic acid(ATRA) and/or
cytotoxic chemotherapy.
